OUR HISTORY IN SHORT:
In the year 1969 my father, Gerald Andrew Echols, Sr., was called to the pastorate and on June 23, 1969 he founded and established a church (along with my mother, the co-founder, Doll Mabin Echols) in the living room of their home at 1630 Highland St. in Detroit, Michigan and named the church Gospel Temple Church of God in Christ. The church then moved to rent out a sanctuary from the late Pastor C. C. Davis, at 74 Kendall Street in Highland Park, Michigan. The church was then renamed Kendall Gospel Temple Church of God in Christ.

The church then moved to rent out a sanctuary from the late Pastor C. C. Davis, at 74 Kendall Street in Highland Park, Michigan. The church was then renamed Kendall Gospel Temple Church of God in Christ.
The church then purchased its own building and moved to 12141 Woodrow Wilson at the corner of Richton in Detroit, Michigan. After faithfully ministering for 12 years, the Lord led Pastor Echols to relocate the church and God led us to a church building sitting on 2 acres of land located at 16601 Tireman St. between Greenfield and the Southfield Freeway, in Detroit, Michigan. The church was then renamed New Gospel Temple Church of God in Christ.
After 30 years of faithful service, our Lord called my father home from labor to reward. I was then prayerfully appointed and respectfully anointed by my Jurisdictional Bishop of the Northeast Michigan Jurisdiction Church of God in Christ, the Bishop P. A. Brooks, to faithfully continue the legacy and the ministry. Today this ministry continues to stand in the power of our God and duty bound to the commission of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (Mark 16:15-16).

As this church approaches 50 years in the ministry, the Lord has now placed it upon my heart to rename our church with the blessings of my mother, the co-founder of our church, who is blessed to yet be with us (we love you mom). New Gospel Temple Church of God in Christ will now be known as:
O’ Live Church of God in Christ (It's not just a name; it's a statement)
Its an exciting time in the history of our church. We are now planning a Golden Jubilee Banquet Celebration, Sunday, June 23, 2019 at 3:00pm-6:00pm. The year 2019 is a YEAR OF JUBILEE and we are asking that you join us in making this a wonderful occasion to remember. Our special guest speaker for this gala affair will be my very own Jurisdictional Bishop, who is the 1st Assistant Presiding Bishop of the Church of God in Christ, Inc., the Bishop P. A. Brooks. You really do not want to miss the words that proceeds out of the mouth of this man of God. A prophetic moment with this man of God is worth the drive. We can affirm that he spoke into the life of our church years ago and we are yet standing. Come help us celebrate; your presence is requested.
