Event Details

February is always a special time for us as we remember and celebrate the lives and contributions of Black pioneers in history as well as others who worked toward improving the lives of African Americans.  Every week in February, after our lively worship services, we will present a snippet of this history through live mini-performances and commemorate the groundbreaking show of the 70s, SOUL TRAIN.

Highlighting Black History Month’s Soul Train Extravaganza will be its legendary host, Don Cortez Cornelius and the Soul Train dancers. Singers Tyron DavisWhitney HoustonGlenn Jones, Jekalyn Carr, and a young Michael Jackson will also be making appearances along with civil rights activist Fanny Lou Hamer; literary critic, educator, and TV host of “Finding Your Roots” Henry Louis Gates, Jr., and writer and biblical scholar Rev. Dr. Renita J. Weems to name just a few.

On Feb 20, we will have Sweets Sunday and on Feb 27, we will have Soul Food Sunday.  Please make your donation(s) no later than Feb 16.  Proceeds will support our Scholarship Program / Youth Programming and Saint Martin of Austin Repertory Theatre (SM[A]RT).

Black History Sweets Donation $30 (Benefit:  Whole Pie)
Black History Sweets Donation $10 (Benefit:  Pie Slice)
